A heartwarming volunteer effort
from the Sumba Foundation®.

In November of 2017, with the help of guests from NIHI Sumba®, The Sumba Foundation was able to initiate and establish the first English class. At the time, it comprised 39 primary school students.

By June 2019, they officially opened their Learning Development Center in Hobawawi where we teach nearly 500 students (ages 4 to 18) English language and computer skills. There’s a total of three (3) afternoon English class locations, and in the mornings when children are obligated to attend their local government schools, we supplement their standard curriculum.

The Sumba Foundation, guests accompany staff to one of the nearby schools where they can contribute to English classes with playful lessons, songs, and games – incredibly rewarding and fun!

Interact with the kids

Accompany the team to a nearby
school, where you can contribute to English
classes through playful lessons, songs and games.

An incredibly rewarding and fun experience,
intermingle with the children of Sumba, while
making an impact on their education and
confidence to socialise.

Be ready for all of the
questions the children will ask. They are always
excited for visitors and are openly curious.A wonderful volunteer effort for
