Rising high above the coastline with its own private road and dramatic drop-off entry, Villa Laddu Malung is NIHI® Sumba’s newest one-bedroom sanctuary of barefoot luxury and cultural spirit. Complete with dedicated car and buggy parking, this retreat offers the ultimate blend of exclusivity, privacy, and convenience, with fast access to Ombak Restaurant and the reception area while preserving total seclusion. From its commanding perch, guests are enveloped in 270º panoramic views across the iconic pinnacles, Occy’s Left, the golden sands of Nihiwatu Beach, the Indian Ocean, and the undulating hills of Sumba.

The villa’s name reflects its soul. In Sumbanese, “Laddu” means sun and “Malung” means afternoon, together honoring the magical glow of dusk,  a time for gatherings, storytelling, and gratitude. Villa Laddu Malung is crafted to embody this cultural spirit, positioning guests front-row to NIHI’s legendary sunsets as the skies erupt in brilliant shades of gold, orange, and violet.

Created with NIHI’s barefoot luxury ethos, the villa maximizes wide-angle views from every space. The large master suite includes a lounge and workspace, an ensuite bathroom, and a private deck with a swimming pool, shaded gazebo, and outdoor tub for stargazing beneath Sumba’s endless night skies.
