Build Confidence in the Saddle.

Make your dream of riding a horse with confidence and ease a reality at NIHI Sumba. Our experienced NIHI equestrian team offers private and small-group lessons tailored to your level.

You’ll spend time getting to know the Sandalwood herd, developing trust on the ground before carrying that connection into the saddle. Sessions begin in the arena, building balance, control, and understanding. The focus is not only on technique, but on feeling at ease and in harmony with your horse. As your confidence builds, lessons often advance and continue along the shoreline as you head out onto Nihiwatu Beach.

Join us at Sandalwood Stables for an equestrian adventure that will leave you with lifelong memories, as you explore the natural beauty of Sumba alongside our cherished horses.

We recommend wearing leggings or long trousers/jeans, socks, and enclosed shoes when riding.

Helmets and boots are available.

Sitting in a classroom surrounded by eager students is a powerful reminder of why this work matters, and of the future it helps shape. Through school lunches, essential supplies, health and hygiene programs, English and computer classes, and scholarships, the foundation is opening doors that once felt out of reach.

As communities grow healthier, children are able to dream bigger and smile wider, and Sumba continues to prosper while preserving the traditions that make it so unique.
