Set along the pristine shoreline of NIHI Rote, Nammo Beach Club is the resort’s vibrant social heart. Centered around a sparkling beachfront pool with panoramic sea views, the space blends barefoot leisure with gentle vitality. Savu, named for the Savu Sea — the wild stretch of water between Rote, Sumba and Timor — is NIHI Rote’s forthcoming main restaurant, opening onto wide, uninterrupted views of the ocean beyond. A stunning open-air haven at the heart of the resort with an expansive outdoor deck, an open kitchen and relaxed lounge seating, Savu becomes the hub of dining activity. Meet Gilberd, a local Rotanese and graduate of the NIHI Rote Hospitality Academy.

When he first joined the academy, Gilberd didn’t speak English. Through his studies, he learned the language and developed the skills and knowledge to build a future in hospitality.

Today, he works as a bartender at NIHI Rote. His journey from student to graduate, and now to a member of the team, is a testament to how much can change with learning, dedication and opportunity.

We’re proud to celebrate how far Gilberd has come and all that lies ahead.
