The Rote Hospitality Academy is a non-profit school embedded within the resort that is dedicated to developing the next generation of Rotenese hospitality leaders. Founded in 2024 at the heart of NIHI Rote, the Rote Hospitality Academy is the gateway and a launching pad for young students to learn the skills and grow the confidence to share with the world the wonders of their beloved island.

From day one, students are empowered to become hosts of their own communities, engaging directly with guests through real-life hospitality experiences. Whether assisting with guest arrivals or leading island storytelling sessions, students practice hospitality not in theory, but in real-time, gaining confidence, refining service skills, and building meaningful connections with travelers from around the world.

This hands-on approach transforms the academy into a dynamic training ground where the classroom extends into every corner of NIHI Rote. With every interaction, they are building not just careers, but a shared sense of purpose and future.

Guests are warmly invited to join English classes as conversation partners, participate in student-led experiences, or simply engage with the young Rotenese men and women who are proudly shaping their own destinies.

The foundations of our equine wellness programme are being gently set in motion as our new horses are introduced to the water at Bo’a Beach, just in front of NIHI Rote. Guided by Carol, the original horse whisperer behind NIHI Sumba’s Sandalwood Stables, these early moments are rooted in trust and calm.

In time, these horses will become part of NIHI Rote’s peaceful equine experiences. From watching them move through the ocean to sunset meditation in their presence, each encounter is a gentle invitation to slow down and connect. These are not riding experiences, but something deeper. Quiet moments shaped by the horse-human bond.
