To celebrate 2026, the Year of the Horse, we are delighted to announce a special partnership with world-renowned healer and intuitive guide, Candice Webster. From 26–30 June 2026, Candice will briefly leave her farm in South Africa for an exclusive retreat at NIHI Sumba. The extraordinary five-day journey includes personal equine healing sessions and equine wellness experiences with our majestic sandalwood horses at the Edge of Wildness.

Overview

Candice combines the ancient wisdom of metaphysics with the profound healing power of horses to provide transformational experiences. In Candice’s ceremonies and sessions, she intuitively channels healing energy. The horses act as mirrors, reflecting hidden emotions or subconscious patterns that need to be acknowledged and released. They also assist in clearing blockages, while restoring balance and clarity.

Candice’s philosophy synergizes perfectly with the spirit of NIHI and the animist beliefs of the island. Sumba’s ancient but living religion, Marapu, centres on the balance between the spirit world, humans and nature – including the island’s unique Sandalwood horses. The Sandalwood Stables at NIHI Sumba established over a decade ago by our very own horse whisperer, Carol Sharpe, has long offered a space to grow, heal and connect.

Our year-round equine wellness experiences include reiki, yoga and massage, all with the healing presence of horses. Each experience offers a path to the transformative, healing power that flows from these majestic animals.

  • Energetic awareness and somatic practices inspired by Sumba’s natural elements.
  • Cultural immersion rooted in the island’s ancestral horse traditions.
  • Grounding rituals, yoga, oceanfront rides and NIHI’s signature Spa Safari.

The Candice Webster Healing with Horses Retreat will take place over five immersive days from 26–30 June 2026. Guests are required to arrive at least one day prior and may depart from 1 July 2026 onwards to ensure a fully integrated experience.

The retreat rate is USD 7,000 per person, which includes all programmed sessions, ceremonies and guided work with Candice and NIHI’s Equine and Wellness teams. Accommodation, including all meals, is priced separately based on your preferred villa category.

Due to the intimate nature of the retreat, spaces are very limited. Final participation will be confirmed based on the order of registrations received and each guest’s equine experience to ensure a harmonious and transformative group journey.
