“Brand new resort. Just opened in April 2026. Nice beach with relatively calm waters. Room was perfectly clean as well as bathroom. Spacious room. We had a beach villa with direct access to the beach. Gym is equipped well. Resort offers yoga, pilates etc.. diving can be booked via Nihi (done by external dive instructor Mike). He knows many dive spots and has his own divers boat to being you there. Very nice and well experienced dive instructor. If you in to diving, take a trip with him. It is worth the money.

“I had the most amazing time at Nihi Rote in April 2026. I don’t know what people are saying about the wave being privatized, as that couldn’t be further from the truth. I surfed with many people from other areas of the island and they couldn’t have been nicer. They were not unhappy about the resort being there. The rooms are very romantic, the service was amazing, and the beach is out of a movie. Nihi Rote supports the local community by training them so that they can go on to work at other resorts/hotels in Indonesia or abroad. It is great for the local economy. Some of the communists posting reviews on here believe everything should be free from the government, but reality and fantasy land of communism are much different. It is great to have investment in the local community, especially when it is responsible. Nihi Rote will help preserve the environment and protect this special area of the world… as they have an interest to keep it protected. I have surfed in other areas of Indonesia and the trash on the beaches is the worst I have seen — I did not see one bottle or piece of trash in my whole week out there… it is pristine. The island of Ndana across the way is the closest point to Australia… so you are literally on the tip of Indonesia!”

The foundations of our equine wellness programme are being gently set in motion as our new horses are introduced to the water at Bo’a Beach, just in front of NIHI Rote. Guided by Carol, the original horse whisperer behind NIHI Sumba’s Sandalwood Stables, these early moments are rooted in trust and calm.
In time, these horses will become part of NIHI Rote’s peaceful equine experiences. From watching them move through the ocean to sunset meditation in their presence, each encounter is a gentle invitation to slow down and connect. These are not riding experiences, but something deeper. Quiet moments shaped by the horse-human bond.

Here, young Rotenese students learn the art of hospitality through both in classroom study and real experience. The Academy sits at the centre of daily life at the resort, where lessons move naturally from the classroom into moments of service shared with guests.
