Your adventure begins with a scenic 45-minute drive descending into the sweeping beauty of Wanukaka Valley. Upon arrival, a guided 1.5-hour trek leads you through pristine national parkland. Along the way, keep watch for remarkable wildlife, from long-tailed macaques and reticulated pythons to the vibrant Nusa Tenggara paradise-flycatcher and the striking citron-crested cockatoo.

Eventually the sound of the powerful cascading water reaches your ears as the trail opens from dense jungle to reveal a turquoise waterfall basin. The sheer scale of the Blue Waterfall is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Cool off in the luminous blue lagoon below or simply relax and enjoy this extraordinary setting with a leisurely picnic surrounded by nature’s grandeur.

Overview

Be awestruck by the stunning vistas that surround you as you descend into Wanukaka Valley, a highlight of this 45-minute drive to Matayangu.

The walking trail begins with a 1h30 trek, led by local guides, through a pristine national park and into the blue lagoon at the base of the waterfall. Keep an eye out for exotic wildlife; such as long-tailed macaques, reticulated pythons, Nusa Tenggara paradise-flycatchers, or citron-crested cockatoos.

As the trail emerges from the jungle, the sheer size and scale of the waterfall basin is a mindblowing sight to behold. Relax and soak in the beauty of this mighty environment over a leisurely picnic.
