Polo the NIHI Way

Take to the saddle and discover polo with the ocean as your backdrop. Begin in the arena, learning to swing, aim and hit your first polo ball, while getting a feel for the mallet and learning to move together with your horse.

When the tide allows, the game moves down to the beach at Nihiwatu for a little beachside polo practice. Beginners start calmly at a walk, while more experienced riders can work on their swing, balance, accuracy, penalty shots and horsemanship.

From your first swing in the arena to a polo ball flying across the sand, this is Polo, the NIHI way.

A professional Argentinian polo player and coach, bringing his experience in the sport to NIHI Sumba. During his time at NIHI, he shares his knowledge of polo with guests of different riding levels, from first-time players to more experienced riders looking to refine their swing, balance and horsemanship.
